Bendon's Distribution Center Wins Top Industry Award

Bendon Ltd. Awarded CILT Award for Supply Chain Innovation

LEWISTON, MAINE - NOVEMBER 5, 2007 -- Bendon Ltd., an international intimate apparel company, recently won the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) Award for Supply Chain Innovation for its distribution center in Auckland, New Zealand.

The state-of-the-art material handling system, designed and integrated by Diamond Phoenix, is part of the company's effort to manage growth and improve efficiency. The automated store order fulfillment system combines several technologies, including light-directed picking, horizontal carousels, wireless picking and package conveyor and sortation. Orders are picked in parallel across the different technologies and are conveyed and sorted to 23 order consolidation lanes. Each order consolidation lane is assigned multiple orders.

The DiamondWare Warehouse Execution System WES™ 3.0 manages order releases and picking across all technologies, balancing order flow and timing so that order sequence and shipping requirements are maintained.
