THE COMPANY AND THE PROJECT

Müller Group is a family-owned company operating internationally in the food sector with around 24,000 employees and annual sales of over 6 billion euros. The company comprises activities and numerous strong brands in the dairy, deli and services business.
The company made a significant capital investment in its recently acquired Telford Yogurt Plant. The main objectives were additional manufacturing capacity, compliance, efficiency  and increased automated storage.
System Logistics supplied a total logistical solution which included a High Bay Warehouse and a shuttle car system which connects goods in, storage, manufacturing, product cooling and dispatch areas.
This system is able to handle two pallet types and their full range of raw materials and finished goods.

THE SOLUTION

System Logistics realized a clad rack automated warehouse for raw materials, including fruit containers at a controlled temperature specific to a rack level. The HBW is 30 meters high, it is served by 3 stacker cranes in single and double depth for a total capacity of 4.536 pallet positions.

The transport of raw materials and packaging materials to the production lines and the transport of the finished products from manufacturing to dispatch via an automated cooling system serviced by a high speed shuttle car system.

3 AGVs (CP Mini) transport the raw materials and packaging   from the HBWH, where they are stored, to the production area and then distributed to the right production line. They also handle all return materials.

The system can handle over 300 pallets per hour OUT, our SYSTORE controlling platform is communicating directly to the Plants SAP EWM system.

HIGHLIGHTS

The system handles and stocks products of different shape and size (containers, bulk bags, stacks of empty pallets, packaging material, etc.). Furthermore, thanks to the shuttle car technology all movements are priorities to provide the most efficient material flow.
