COCA-COLA HBC AUSTRIA

how system logistics answered to an evolving market with the right solutions

Coca-Cola HBC Austria supplies through Edelstal’s plant the whole Austrian market with products of The Coca-Cola Company, serving over 60.000 customers in the entire country. The company is part of the Coca-Cola Hellenic family which is one of the largest Coca-Cola bottlers in the world, and it is also one of the biggest production facilities in Coca-Cola Hellenic.

The need of Coca-Cola HBC was to increase the capacity within the existing building and to connect the production lines to the automated warehouse. This scope was reached with the Laser Guided Vehicles, which represent a very flexible solution.

Frank O’Donnell, the General Manager of CCHBC Austria stated: “We landed on System Logistics because they provided us with the best solution with the best throughput capacity to really in-house all our warehousing requirements”.

The principal scope for the customer was to maximize the storage capacity without touching the throughput” (Valentin Radu, Head of Supply chain services).

In order to reach these goals System Logistics implemented a technical solution having 4 main components:

  • Fast Rotation Storage: 4 stocking blocks having 3 aisles with 6 elevators ensuring the vertical movement of pallets through 15 shuttles equipped with satellite.

  • Laser Guided Vehicles system connected to the FRS, representing a very innovative approach in the beverage industry.

  • System Vehicle Loop connecting the loading area and the FRS, ensuring the right speed and flexibility according to the loading capacity.

  • Dispatch sequencer managing the loading sequence of the trucks according to the customer’s orders.

Frank O’Donnell affirmed to be very satisfied with the technology provided by System Logistics: “The whole solution was delivered for us exactly on time, it has solved all our external warehousing requirements by in-housing everything and is fully meeting all the throughput and cost requirements that we need for our business”.
