ITALTRANS: ANOTHER SUCCESS IN THE RETAIL INDUSTRY
System Logistics has established a new partnership in Italian large supermarket chains: it has recently stipulated a contract with Italtrans to create their new logistics hub.
Italtrans is a top shelf partner in the industry, able to handle the entire food and consumer products supply chain, with its core business in grocery products and a client list which includes brands like Conad, Auchan and Esselunga.
Italtrans's new general groceries logistics hub in Calcio (Bergamo) will cover 150,000 m2, with the new System Logistics automatic warehouse occupying just 6,000 m2.
The System Logistics room temperature system will include a 28 m tall self-supporting rack system able to handle and contain over 30,000 pallets of general groceries, with 10 double-depth stacker cranes.
Both incoming and outgoing pallets will be handled automatically by SVL (System Vehicle Loop) shuttles running between the warehouse and shipping areas.
The automatic warehouse will dialogue with the conventional areas of the hub and handle pallets for picking resupply.
The system has been designed to be forwards-compatible with future automatic picking system expansions.
